Cuba's Jordan Diaz Breaks Triple Jump Record at IAAF World U18 Championships

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

The world U18 triple jump record was broken Friday by Cuba's Jordan Diaz at the IAAF World U18 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

His fourth-round jump of 56-9.25 (17.30m) broke the previous record of 56-6.75 (17.24m) by Lazaro Martinez, also of Cuba, three years ago.

Earlier in the competition, Diaz added his name to the history of the World U18 Championships when he broke the meet record with a jump of 55-9.25 (17.00m) on his third attempt.

Diaz won the competition over Frixon David Chila of Ecuador by more than four feet.
